Francesca Tottoli

My name is Francesca Tottoli and I design creative learning experiences.

Over the course of my work I have created and directed courses and special projects for some of the most important names in Design, Fashion, Culture and Innovation, working with institutions and companies such as the European Commission, the International Olympic Committee, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Greenpeace, Prada, Gucci, Apple, Bulgari, Calvin Klein, Jo Malone, Nike and Automobili Lamborghini.

At IED – Istituto Europeo di Design I directed the Executive and Tailor Made advanced training areas for companies, and founded a Business Hub dedicated to developing young talent, building a community of more than 150,000 Alumni and designing international competitions, workshops, exhibitions, fashion shows and cultural events in the world's main creative capitals.

Working every day with university students, managers and teams from very different backgrounds, I came to a conviction: the most effective learning is the kind that involves people in an experience.

When we learn by doing, when we share a creative process in a direct and generous exchange with others, learning becomes deeper.

It is this transformation that guides every Lettera Blu project today.

Lettera Blu

It all began with a handwritten letter, in twelve copies.

Into each envelope I slipped a few lettuce seeds, and sent it to twelve extraordinary friends — artists, painters, designers and ceramicists — inviting them to meet once a month.

The idea was simple: each of them would share what she knew with the others through a hands-on activity.

I pictured a large garden, where every person could sow a talent in the others and watch it grow through exchange, curiosity and mutual trust.

“We must cultivate our garden,” wrote Voltaire. Not as an invitation to shut ourselves inside our own small world, but as an exercise in responsibility and trust: taking care of what we can make grow. Because if everyone tends their own patch, together they make one great expanse — fertile, generous and alive.

That same idea still guides Lettera Blu today.

We believe that making something from beginning to end — with your own hands, alongside others — means practising attention, presence, empathy, enthusiasm and trust.

We design applied-art experiences and workshops for companies, organisations and individuals.

We don't only teach a technique. We create the conditions for each person to rediscover the pleasure of learning by doing, developing creative, manual and relational skills.
